Women Therapists - psychologists

Job Title: Therapists - Psychologists (full time, contracted position)

Location: Haiti

Overview: The Mental Health Therapist will be responsible for giving mental health care to the participants of the Nadege’s mental health program at the empowerment center. They will work with women who have been trafficked and/or have experienced sexual exploitation. They will help them to recovery after traumatic experiences and find resources for moving forward. As part of the therapy process, they conduct interviews, testing and risk assessment sessions with patients in order to evaluate their mental condition and formulate a treatment plan. They keep detailed notes and records on their patients and monitor their progress. Counseling and therapy sessions will be one-to-one and group therapy.

Qualifications:

Licensed Mental Health Counselor or equivalent

  • 1-3 years working with women who have been trafficked and/or have experienced sexual exploitation.

  • Experience working with patients with episodes of severe stress including acute depression and anxiety, by setting up supportive mechanisms (crisis interventions and shoring up existing coping skills and strategies).     

  • Good knowledge of techniques that can be applied when treating these individuals (e.g. EMDR, Mindfulness therapy, Cognitive-behavioral therapy, supportive and psychodynamic psychotherapy, narrative therapy...)

  • Awareness and sensitivity working with various socio economic and cultural backgrounds

  • 1-3 years working with program or non-profit development

  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and safety of Nadege residents

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Fluent in Creole and French

Essential Job Functions

  • Conduct interviews, testing and risk assessment sessions with patients in order to evaluate their mental condition and formulate a treatment plan

  • Setting up the therapy that best fits for the patient.

  • Discuss all cases with clinical staff (Clinical Director, Therapists and Social worker) in the weekly clinical meeting.

  • Complete clinical notes after each therapy session.

  • Collaborate with Clinical Director for any problem regarding the residents’ therapy process.

  • Understand and follow all Nadege policies and procedures.
